Stage 3 – OCSC 2011 - Orientation Cum Selection Camp.
36 students have been selected for Stage -3 camp, which starts from 16th May 20111 for 20 days. This camp is at HBCSE, Mumbai and will finish on 4th June 2011.
Students for this camp were selected from 300 students which had appeared in INJSO held on 29th Jan 2011. This year the cut off for stage – 2 was 46.5 marks out of 100 total marks.
The merit list of OCSC in Junior Science will be prepared on the basis of the combined theoretical and experimental score aggregated over all the tests in the camp, with 60% weightage for theory and 40% weightage for experiment. Majorly the subjects are – Physics, Chemistry & Biology. 2 lectures of Mathematics were included last time Stage – 3.
Performance in previous stages (NSEJS and INJSO) will not be a consideration for the merit list and awards of the OCSC.
6 students will be short listed from this elite group of 36 and will represent India at International level. 3 teacher leaders will also be part of the team for the final stages of the 8th IJSO which will be held at Durban, South Africa.
Meritorious students are awarded handsome prizes - Top 10% students receive gold medals, the following 20% receive silver medals and the next 30% receive bronze medals.
Also, team prizes are offered to the best results at the experimental examination and the best country in the tournament. Individual prizes are offered to the best student in the theoretical examination and to the best overall. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is responsible for giving official participation certificates to all students, leaders and observers.
